Derek’s first time in a tuxedo

Last night was the first music conservatory performance of the year at BTWHSPVA (Booker T Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts…phew) or Booker for short. While expectations at JL Long MS had been “dress in black”, Booker does the full-on tux and dresses. What a great performance! 2 sections of wind symphony, then classical guitar solos and an ensemble. String orchestra finished with 2 sections and then joined together for 1 song. I don’t think I’ve ever seen 9 double-bases and 9 cellos on the stage at the same time before. Tonight is choir and piano, looking forward to going back.
